Ege University, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Receives Prestigious Gentec-EO Laser Lab Award

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Ege University is pleased to announce that one of our faculty members, Assist. Prof. Ibrahim Akkaya has been selected as a recipient of the Gentec-EO Laser Lab Award 2025. This prestigious recognition highlights our department’s strong commitment to excellence in optics and photonics education, as well as its emphasis on hands-on, industry-relevant training.

The award is generously provided by Gentec-EO, one of the leading companies in laser measurement solutions. As part of the award, our department has received a thermal laser power detector UP19K-15S-H5-BLU-D0, a high-performance, industry-grade instrument designed for precise laser power measurements.

The awarded power meter will be integrated into both undergraduate and graduate laboratory courses. Our students will perform hands-on experiments involving laser power measurements, optical attenuation, and polarization, reinforcing fundamental principles such as Beer-Lambert’s Law and Malus’s Law, while gaining practical experience using industry-standard instrumentation.

This award will significantly enhance both teaching and research activities, helping prepare our students for careers in photonics, telecommunications, and laser-based technologies, while also fostering new opportunities for applied research and industry collaboration.
